Texas’ First Italian Renaissance Organ and Its Maker: An Open House

  • Harmonia Stellarum Houston 1311 Holman Street Houston, TX, 77004 United States (map)

The master and his work: Italian organ maker Giovanni Pradella

At the open house Giovanni Pradella gives us a fascinating glimpse into how his company makes 17th-century organs from scratch employing contemporary techniques. Videos illustrate, for example, the casting of lead alloy onto sand beds to produce the sheet metal subsequently shaped into organ pipes. You will hear live music examples and you will have the opportunity to look inside the instrument. Giovanni will be happy to answer questions. Reception after the presentation.
