Claudio Monteverdi: Psalm settings for St. Caecilia’s Day

Thanks to an extremely generous gift, artistic director Mario Aschauer is receiving a new Italian Renaissance-style organ, currently being built by Organi Famiglia Pradella in Caiolo, Italy. Of course, like all of Mario’s other fantastic keyboard instruments, the new organ will be a cornerstone in Harmonia Stellarum’s future programming. How else to celebrate the arrival of this breathtaking instrument than with Gregorian Chant for the feast of St. Caecilia (the patron saint of Music) and Monteverdi’s lavish psalm settings.
